Application Process, Terms and Conditions

1. Who Participates?
We welcome first timers, couples, singles, students, professionals, retired people, career breakers and anyone who wants a rewarding fun abroad. THIVS is interested in people who are 14 years and above. One must be responsible, motivated, cooperative, flexible, and adaptable to simple lifestyle, patient to live for a longer period in a different culture with unfamiliar people and climatic condition and be ready to learn and share skills. To participate, you don't necessarily require previous knowledge, skill or experience. The number of work-campers is unlimited.

2. You make insurance, the flight, yellow fever and anti-malarial jabs/drug arrangements.

3. Application
The application for us workcamp, voluntary, or safari participation is done by filling our simple online Application Click to Fill Details.  The application requires participant’s brief profile, area of interest, special needs, state of health and other basic facts. This information helps us to organize placements with great consideration on personal needs, interest and or circumstances. Application should be received at least one week before the start of placement date for conventional purposes. Once accepted, we shall be sending you additional information about your chosen project or the destination.

4. Confirmation and Deadline
Confirmations for participation should be done at least a week before the start date. We request for the Volunteer's Full Names, Passport Numbers, Flight Number, Flight Date, Time of Arrival and Departure - Click to Send us Your Details. If you have applied for a project in Uganda or Sudan, given us the details but fly direct there – someone will a wait you at Entebbe and Khartoum Airport respectively.
 
5. Passport Photographs
Two Passport-Sized Photographs are needed upon arrival during the registration and briefing process.
 
6. Visa
Volunteer or Traveler can easily obtain Visitors Visa valid for three months on arrival at destination country international airport at a fee of US $50. Alternatively, you can get it in program country Embassies back home.

7. Arrival
International participant normally arrives one or two days before the start-off date. Majority of mostly arrives through the Nairobi Airport for Kenya, Entebbe for Uganda and Khartoum incase of Sudan. You may wish to fly direct to coast through Mombassa Airport -let us know first and arrange your pick up! If you have emailed us your flight information in advance, someone should receive and welcome you at the airport’s arrivals lounge!

8. Orientation and Relocation to Destination
After arrival, one stay with a host family to acclimatizes, undergo in-country briefing and cultural orientation before relocating to the preferred location or project. For those who projects are near the arrival cities, one travel there the same day.

9. Programme Cost
Since THIVS is a charitable organisation that does not receive funding from any sources; it cannot able to pay for the volunteer or traveler’s expenses. Anyone who is interested to join or serve with any of our exciting programmes should pay for the participation. Cost details;

  1. One Week Workcamp – 80 Euro
  2. Two Weeks Workcamp - 190 Euro
  3. Three Weeks Workcamp - 250 Euro.
  4. One month Voluntary Project - 300 Euro.
  5. One month to One Year - 250 Euro per month.

10. Arrival day and Sleeping Place  

  1. Participant pays $20 for airport pick up, and same amount at departure.
  2. Contributes $20 to host family per day to cater for Accommodations, Food, and Water, before relocating to selected destination.

11. This budget analysis on single volunteer participation fee contribution was formulated in 2003 by T.H.I.V.S central command to facilitate placement process and ensure sustainability.


Admin: Rent, Stationeries, Telephone/Internet, Fax, Postal Services, Accounting, Equipments.

Strategic/Accumulative: Projects development, Management, Networking, Strategy Meetings, Promotions and Sustainability Allowance.

Note: The participant caters for any private/non-official engagements which are fully exclusive.

12. End of Participation
